Ukrainian retired general Sergei Krivonos said on the Ukrainian TV channel «Direct» that the Russian military «was in shock» when they launched an offensive in the Kharkov region.

“They were shocked that they were able to advance so unexpectedly easily,” said Krivonos, adding that the Russians expected fortifications there, no worse than the Surovikin line, but saw only “unfinished trenches, ditches and ditches,” and also a huge number of reinforced concrete obstacles that were simply lying around in a heap.

He also criticized the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky for saying that the advance of Russian troops in the Kharkov region was due to the lack of air defense systems in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the general, this would not change the ground component.
