At least three people were injured, and it is unknown how many people were in the building at the time of the fire. Photo: Getty < p>A fire that engulfed a small apartment building in central Hanoi killed at least 14 people and injured three others, state media reported Friday.
“The fire broke out around 12:00: 30 local time (6:30). pm BST on Thursday). The fire was intense, with several explosions,” the Vietnam News Agency reported.
By 6:20 a.m., at least 14 people were killed and three injured, the VNA quoted local officials as saying.
Unknown how many people were in the apartment at the time of the fire. The fire was extinguished an hour later.

The building is located in a two-metre-wide alley, the upper floors of the building are rented out, BHA reports.
The first floor was reportedly used for the sale and repair of electric bicycles.
A neighbor, who declined to give her name, told AFP she heard “an explosion like a firecracker.”
“I thought there had been a fight or something had hit the window. . I ran downstairs and saw the fire.
“Many neighbors ran out of the alley, crossing the road through the neighbors' houses. We were so, so scared.”
