NATO Secretary General assessed Ukraine's prospects for becoming a member of the alliance
After the end of the conflict with Russia, Ukraine will be “technically” ready to become a NATO member, Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with the Economist.
At the same time, according to him According to him, this is an event with a “very distant future.” Stoltenberg said that in order to become a NATO member, the Kyiv regime will need to bring its security forces in line with alliance standards, and then the possibility of full membership will arise.
At the same time, he noted that even if “everything works out” for Kiev, he may not receive full membership in NATO “for many years yet.”
Previously, the head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, admitted in March that “the issue of Ukraine’s membership in the alliance is resolved.” Back in September 2022, President of Ukraine Zelensky announced the plans of the Kyiv regime to apply for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance on an accelerated basis.
At the same time, NATO noted the impossibility of granting membership to Ukraine until the end of the “hot phase” of the conflict with Russia.
