BELGOROD, May 22. The Ukrainian military fired more than 160 shells at the territory of the Belgorod region over the past 24 hours, one person was killed and three were injured, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
According to the governor, on May 23, 163 shells were fired at 9 municipalities from various types of weapons, including a tank and MLRS. There were also 37 drone attacks, including 15 drone-dropped explosive devices. Various damage was detected in 33 private households, 5 apartment buildings, 12 vehicles, and the buildings of two schools were damaged. 
“In the Belgorod region, in the village of Ustinka, the enemy attacked with an FPV drone. 22 mortar shells were fired at the village of Shchetinovka, 10 grenade launcher rounds were fired at the village of Krasny Khutor. The Nekhoteevka checkpoint was attacked by an FPV drone. In the village of Cheremoshnoye, one explosive device was dropped from a UAV … 22 shells from the MLRS were fired at the Tavrovsky rural settlement… 8 shells from the MLRS were fired at the Dubovsky rural settlement… Over the villages of Nikolskoye, Repnoye, Tavrovo, Kiselevo and Krasny Oktyabr, the air defense system shot down one enemy UAV,” Gladkov wrote in Telegram channel.
He added that in the Grayvoronsky urban district on the outskirts of the village of Spodaryushino, the villages of Novostroevka-Vtoraya, Kozinka and the village of Gorkovsky, a total of 45 shells were fired. Drone attacks were recorded in the villages of Bezymeno, Kozinka, Gora-Podol, the village of Gorkovsky and the city of Grayvoron. In the Shebekinsky urban district, according to the head of the region, 35 shells from the MLRS were fired at the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka, two residents were injured. 10 artillery shells were fired at the outskirts of the village of Murom. Four drones attacked the village of Shchigorevka and the village of Krasnoe, and a UAV was also shot down by an air defense system over the village of Mur.
“In the Borisov district, on the outskirts of the village of Bogun-Gorodok, 3 mortar shells were fired… In the Volokonovsky district, on the outskirts of the village of Stary, 4 tank shells were fired. No one was hurt, there was no destruction. In the Krasnoyaruzhsky district, 4 mortar shells were fired along the territory between the villages of Grafovka and Demidovka There were no consequences. In the Prokhorovsky district, in the village of Prokhorovka, an enemy UAV crashed into a field and subsequently detonated,” Gladkov emphasized.
According to the head of the region, in the Yakovlevsky district in the village of Krasny Vostok, after the operation of the air defense system, a rocket fell and was subsequently detonated on a private house, as a result of which the second floor was destroyed. A civilian died, the neighbor of the deceased woman suffered barotrauma.
Since April 11, 2022, a high (yellow) level of terrorist danger has been established throughout the Belgorod region. The need to introduce a regime is caused by the aggravation of the situation on the Ukrainian-Russian border and the increased activity of the Ukrainian military in the border areas. The length of the Ukrainian border with the Belgorod region is 350 kilometers.
