ST. PETERSBURG, May 28. Five St. Petersburg police officers involved in the illegal legalization of migrants have been identified, reports the press service of the GUMVD for the city and the Leningrad region.
“As a result of operational-search activities, the security staff of the headquarters identified five employees of the internal affairs bodies suspected of illegal legalization of migrants. Searches were also carried out at their place of residence and work. These employees were transferred to the investigative authorities for further procedural actions,” the press reports. -service.
< br />The agency on Tuesday reported that the illegal migration channel in the Kurortny district of St. Petersburg had been closed, through which criminals had legalized about 400 foreigners over the course of 1.5 years. As the police established, one of the organizers of the illegal business is a 58-year-old native of Azerbaijan. The Investigative Committee added that the income from the criminal business was close to 6 million rubles, and two criminal groups were involved in it. Cases were initiated under paragraph «a» of Part 2 of Art. 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fictitious registration of a foreign citizen in a residential area).
The press service of the GUMVD added that during the searches, the defendant’s car was searched and a bag of marijuana was found in the trunk. The suspect admitted to the police that he kept the drug for personal use.
