The new commercial vehicle of the German brand will go on sale only at the beginning of next year, but VW dealers in Germany are already accepting pre-orders for it .
The Volkswagen brand continues to gradually declassify the new generation Transporter van family. Now the manufacturer has already shown the interior design, talked about the engine line and announced the starting price. So far, only the exterior of the future new product has not been presented, although the company has already demonstrated a prototype of the model hidden behind a camouflage film.
Let us remind you that the development of the new Transporter was carried out by the American company Ford. This project was the final phase of cooperation between the two manufacturers within the framework of the alliance, which was concluded back in 2020. The closest relative of the new product is the one-ton Ford Transit Custom van, which debuted last year.

The official presentation will still have to wait, but for now the company has decided to whet the interest of fans with a teaser of the future new product. Judging by it, the new Volkswagen Transporter will have some visible features of the Multivan in its exterior, as well as the ID electric van. Buzz. Judging by the teaser, the head optics are designed in a similar way, and the radiator grille of the Transporter resembles the shape of the plug of the completely “green” model. The models will offer 16-, 17- and 19-inch wheels of the original design.
In the cabin of the new VW you can see a round steering wheel, like the Volkswagen T6.1, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system (like the “donor” from Ford), as well as a 12-inch diagonal virtual instrument panel with its own graphics. The future Transporter also has a slightly changed shape of the front panel.

As we reported earlier, the new van has become larger and more spacious compared to its predecessor. For the standard version, the length has increased by 146 mm (to 5050 mm), the distance between the axles has increased by 97 mm (to 3100 mm), and the width has increased by 128 mm (to 2032 mm). The roof is either standard or high, with the second option available in combination with the standard wheelbase.
The next generation Volkswagen Transporter has a maximum useful volume of a van with a standard wheelbase and a high roof of 5.8 cubic meters, a maximum load capacity in combination with a diesel engine of 1.3 tons, a maximum dynamic load on the roof of 170 kg, and a maximum towed trailer weight of 2.8 tons. In turn, the extended version of the new Transporter has a distance between the axles of 3500 mm and a length of 5450 mm. It has a maximum cargo capacity of 9 cubic meters.

The new Transporter shared equipment with its “twin”. The range includes diesel engines, plug-in hybrid and all-electric power plants. In the first case, we are talking about a 2.0-liter EcoBlue engine, the output of which is 110, 150 or 170 hp. The pair is offered with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic.
The plug-in hybrid installation is based on a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine with a volume of 2.5 liters, working in tandem with an electromechanical variator. The system includes a battery with a capacity of 16.5 kWh (usable capacity – 11.8 kWh). The total output is 233 hp, and the range when driving on electric power is about 50 km (when calculated using the WLTP cycle). For “green” modifications, the electric motor is located on the rear axle, power is 116, 136, 218 or 286 hp. A pair of batteries is available to choose from – with a capacity of 54 or 84 kWh.
The new product is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2025. However, Volkswagen dealers in the old-world market have already begun collecting pre-orders for the next Transporter. The starting price is 36,780 euros (equivalent to approximately 3.56 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
