MOSCOW, May 29. German specialist Hans-Dieter Flick appointed the new head coach of the Spanish football club Barcelona, reports the official website of the Catalan team.
Flick replaced Xavi in this post, whose departure was previously announced. The contract with Flick runs until June 30, 2026.
Flick is 59 years old. He coached Hoffenheim, Bayern and the German national team. With the team from Munich, Flick won two championships, the German Cup and Super Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
The German national team under his leadership failed to qualify from the group at the 2022 World Cup, after which they won one victory in six friendly matches, which led to Flick's resignation.
