MOSCOW, June 1People who believe scammers and pay for it with lost money will never leave, this is human psychology, and accordingly, scammers will never “end”, said Sergey Golovanov, chief expert of Kaspersky Lab, in an interview on the eve of SPIEF 2024.
“Fraudulent schemes will continue to appear, but it is important to understand that they all belong to traditional social engineering – they start with a so-called “hook” so that a person begins to listen and believe the attackers. There are two most popular techniques: say that something good happened : they call for a date, for example, or a bad one – when they call supposedly from the police,” Golovanov said. 
He reminded that “all these technologies are not the first ten years old, they have already been discovered and studied.”
“What will happen next? This technology is not going anywhere – the influx of potential victims does not end. Teenagers will continue to believe that they are called models in a photo studio, and the older generation – that they are really called from the police. Therefore, if we talk about the future, everything will be the same nothing conceptually new at all. There is a current news agenda, for example, new social payments have been announced – and scammers immediately create websites and offer to enter the card number and the desired amount. He added that scammers don't always come out ahead. “There is a constant struggle with them – but every year a new generation grows up. Therefore, sometimes it really seems that the scammers are winning,” Golovanov concluded.
