MOSCOW, June 4 The investigation appealed to the Tverskoy Court of Moscow with petitions for the arrest of two women who defaced the monument to commander George Zhukov on Manezhnaya Square in Moscow, the court was told.
“The court received petitions from the investigation to select a preventive measure against V.N. Nikolaeva and A.V. Lysenkova,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
As a source previously reported, two women had spray-painted the inscription “GUR” on the monument to Marshal Zhukov on Manezhnaya Square the day before.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 243.4 “Destruction or damage to military graves, as well as monuments, steles, obelisks, other memorial structures or objects perpetuating the memory of those killed in defense of the Fatherland or dedicated to the days of military glory of Russia. The maximum penalty is imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
