There has been no news from 10-year-old Vika and 12-year-old Grisha, who were lost in the Sverdlovsk forest for three days.
Together with their grandfather, Vika and Grisha went fishing on June 4 near the village of Burmakina Slobodo-Turinsky district (Sverdlovsk region). But grandfather left the forest without his grandchildren.

According to the story of a mother who was in Tyumen, the children left their grandfather near the village because they wanted to buy kvass. According to another version, they saw power poles, thought that the house was there and ran in the wrong direction. Now, a criminal case has been opened under the article “Murder” into the disappearance of the children. — This is standard practice, it makes it easier and faster to search for missing people.
Meanwhile, almost the entire country joined the search for Vika and Grisha.
DPSO volunteers from the Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Novosibirsk, Tomsk and Moscow regions flocked to the site, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard, the police are working, and local volunteers are helping. Caring people bring tape for posting directions, batteries, bring food and drinking water. Today alone, more than 500 people and 90 search groups took part in search and rescue operations. The military, a helicopter, a quadcopter with a thermal imager and teams of canine handlers were involved in the case.
We asked the LizaAlert search engines, who are on site and helping remotely, what is happening now.
Coordinator Sergey Kletsin, one of the most experienced search engines, flew to the Sverdlovsk region to organize the work on site.
“The process is complicated by the fact that there are a lot of natural traps in the search area, swamps, streams, rivers, ravines. Difficulties are created by the lack of high-quality roads for dropping off groups and a large number of forest roads, which allowed our lost ones to move long distances,” — says Kletsin.
This is really so — From experience, numerous forest paths could allow lost children to go quite far, especially since quite a lot of time has passed since the disappearance.

According to friends, both children were involved in winter swimming from an early age and were in good athletic shape. This may help them get through the nights. Since it’s cool in the region now, it’s raining.
«It’s hard to say, no search is like another, each has its own risk factors. There are stories when, after a long time, a missing person was found alive in the forest, even in difficult weather conditions. Regardless of the circumstances, we always try to work as quickly as possible to find the missing person as quickly as possible.
— Yes, unfortunately, then the volunteers were about a day late, but at that time modern search methods did not yet exist, nor did they have the knowledge, technical capabilities and experience that we have now.
The search engines explain that when going into the forest, children must be taught the basic safety rules. It is necessary to explain that if they have lost sight of their parents, then they need to stop and wait in place until they are found and not go anywhere themselves, they must follow the rule of the “three “Os”: stop, look back, call out.
It is imperative to respond with noise to noise, to respond even if another person is called, to knock on a tree with a stick or whistle on a whistle if the voice has died down.
If a child is lost in the forest, parents must immediately call police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations by calling 112. Contrary to popular myth, you do not need to wait three days to seek help.
It is necessary to tell the service employees in detail what happened and give the exact coordinates of your location. You should also contact volunteer organizations that can help organize the search.

Warn your child to only go into open spaces that are within their field of vision , so that the person can be better seen from above, since they can search for him using a quadcopter. You must not go near bodies of water. If night has fallen, then you must try not to fall asleep, stay in place and under no circumstances try to move through the forest in the dark.
You should not start the search yourself, do not walk in a circle, but stay in the same place where the child left to make it easier to find him.
Before any hike or excursion to a public event or to the forest, parents should take a photograph what the child looks like. If he gets lost, it will be easier to remember what he was wearing and provide a current photograph.
It is best to dress the children themselves in bright colors, not camouflage, and take with them a fully charged mobile phone and bottle with water, a nutritious chocolate bar, dried fruits.
Children should know that even if the money on their cell phone runs out, or there is no SIM card, or there is no coverage from the cellular operator, they can still call “112” . At the same time, it is important not to waste the battery in vain, but to communicate only on business.
In 2023, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 190,677 people disappeared in Russia, of which 33,208 people – children under the age of 18.
In 2023, the detachment received 10,853 child search requests. 10,060 were found alive, 111 were found dead.
