MOSCOW, June 5 The Federation Council approved the ratification of an agreement with China on the joint creation of the International Scientific Lunar Station (ISS).
In March, the Russian government submitted to the State Duma a bill to ratify the agreement with China on the joint creation of the International Scientific Lunar Station (ISS).
It was noted that the task of the MNLS is to conduct multidisciplinary and multi-purpose research work, including the exploration and use of the Moon, fundamental research experiments and testing of technologies, with the possibility of long-term unmanned operation of the MNLS with the prospect of ensuring a human presence on the Moon.
Implementation of the agreement, as noted, will help strengthen the strategic partnership between Russia and China, develop joint space activities, and consolidate Russia’s leading role in space exploration, including lunar exploration projects.
