In the European Parliament elections in Germany, the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party took second place after votes were counted in 362 of 400 electoral districts, gaining 14.5%. The Social Democrats (SPD) of Chancellor Olaf Scholz dropped to third place with a result of 14.4%, according to the official website of the chairman of the Federal Election Commission.
The leadership still belongs to the opposition bloc of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Democratic Union. social union (CDU/CSU), which received 30.9% of the vote (CDU — 23.8%, CSU — 7.1%).
In fourth place are the Greens, partners of the SPD in the ruling coalition, with a result of 12.5%. Another member of the coalition, the Free Liberals (FDP), received 5.4% of the vote. The new party «Sarah Wagenknecht's Union — For Reason and Justice» (SSV) currently has 5.5%. The remaining parties received less than 3% of the votes.
