MOSCOW, June 13 Deputy Minister of Defense Timur Ivanov, who is accused of particularly large-scale bribery, can receive parcels in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center only through the Russian Post, said Alexey Melnikov, secretary of the Moscow PSC.
“”You cannot transfer parcels through the marketplace. Books – yes, you can order, parcels – only through the window (the “FSIN. Window” system for transfers in detention centers – ed.) or Russian Post. From Ivanov or someone else there can be no exceptions from prisoners in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center,” Melnikov said.
Ivanov, who oversaw the work of the military-construction complex at the Ministry of Defense, was charged with bribery on an especially large scale and was arrested until June 23. The investigation believes that Ivanov entered into a conspiracy with third parties to receive a bribe in the form of providing services of a property nature during contracting and subcontracting work for the needs of the ministry.
His lawyer Murad Musaev said that the investigation charges Ivanov with bribes amounting to about 1 billion rubles, but he does not admit guilt.
