DOM.RF, together with the Federal Autonomous Institution of the Federal Center for Standardization and Construction and the Ministry of Construction of Russia, has developed a draft interstate standard (ISS) for the construction of green apartment buildings. The notice of the development of the first version of the document has been published in the Federal State Information System of Rosstandart, and its public discussion will last until September 1, 2024.
The creation of an interstate standard is intended to scale the experience of applying the green GOST R, approved in Russia in 2022, to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). During its development, an exchange of best practices in the field of green standardization was organized with the CIS and BRICS countries, which emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in matters of sustainable development. After approval, the MGS will replace the current national standard GOST R.
“We have come to the moment when green GOST is ready to reach a new level – interstate. The main goal of developing the document is to create a unified standard for green houses, which will allow the EAEU and CIS countries to harmonize approaches to the design, construction and operation of environmentally sustainable buildings. This will be an important step towards improving the quality of life of citizens and protecting the environment. Considering that ecology and climate are issues that do not know territorial boundaries, the standard is an important step to promote the growth of the environmental well-being of the population and the energy efficiency of a number of countries,” emphasized Marina Slutskaya, Director for Sustainable Development and International Cooperation of DOM.RF.
Green MGS includes requirements and recommendations aimed at improving the environmental and energy efficiency of buildings. The main principles of the standard: reduction of energy and water consumption; reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; use of environmentally friendly and renewable materials; increasing the level of comfort and health for residents; increasing economic efficiency at the stage of building operation.
