MOSCOW, July 8 Olympic handball champion Russian Anna Vyakhireva signed a contract with the French Brest, according to the club’s official website.
The term of the agreement is two years. The last club of the 29-year-old Russian was the Norwegian Vipers, for which she played since the summer of 2022.
«I understand that these are not normal circumstances and that everything happened very unexpectedly, but I'm really looking forward to arriving in Brest and starting pre-season training! I can't wait to start a new chapter in my life and hope to give the fans a lot of happiness! See you soon» , — said Vyakhireva.
As part of the Vipers, she won the Norwegian championship, the country's Cup twice, and the Champions League. At the end of last season, the Russian handball player became the best sniper in the Champions League, scoring 113 goals. Vyakhireva was also recognized as the best right welterweight in the 2023/24 season.
As part of the Russian national team, Vyakhireva won gold at the 2016 Olympics, became a silver medalist at the Tokyo Games, and was recognized as the most valuable player in both Olympic tournaments. The handball player also won bronze at the World Championship and silver at the European Championship.
