Bank DOM.RF conducted the first successful transactions as part of piloting a universal QR code for paying for purchases. The pilot project is being implemented by the Bank of Russia together with the National Payment Card System (NSCP).
“The universal QR code is a mechanism for paying for goods and services that can be used on the payment infrastructure of any bank. It gives equal opportunities to banks to introduce modern pay services, and also significantly simplifies the receipt of services for users. Just point the camera at the QR code, after which all available payment methods will appear on the screen. Thus, buyers are given more freedom in choosing payment methods. Clients of DOM.RF Bank from among small and medium-sized businesses have already carried out their first transactions and noted the convenience and speed of this solution,” said Nikolai Kozak, Deputy Chairman of the Board of DOM.RF Bank.
Universal QR -code is a technological standard based on the NSPK, used when paying for goods and services. The tool will complement existing banking products and services and will become a new stage in the development of contactless payment methods in Russia.
“Several fast food enterprises and flower shops were among the first to join the piloting of the universal QR code. These are small retail outlets that, with the introduction of a universal QR code, have the opportunity to organize a convenient system of payments to customers, which will affect the growth of their number and the scale of the business as a whole. We received a positive assessment of the service from the pilot participants and, after the necessary improvements, we plan to make the service available to all clients of small and medium-sized businesses,” said Anna Kornelyuk, head of the Small and Medium Business division of DOM.RF Bank.
