Modern women's accessories discovered at ancient monuments: connection with space

«You don't have to learn it from another culture, you can invent it yourself.»

Ancient wall paintings show women were using «modern» accessories 12,000 years ago . Women's love for handbags can date back thousands of years. Researchers have discovered ancient wall paintings that appear to depict bags with a square body and a short, semicircular handle. Some of them date back 12,000 years, predating the advent of cosmetics, perfumes and hair combs.

The earliest images were discovered in Turkey among the ruins of the ancient megalithic temple of Gobekli Tepe, on large stone columns which the bags were engraved, writes the Daily Mail.

Researchers have discovered similar designs in Mexico, Iraq and parts of South America, raising even more questions about the meaning of the motif, particularly how ancient civilizations imagined the same object.

Although the images Almost identical to modern handbags, experts have suggested that many of the images depict baskets. But some scientists also argue that the idea of a handbag may have been created by ancient civilizations.

The first modern handbag was designed in 1841 in England by Samuel Parkinson, who needed a travel suitcase for his wife that could hold her belongings that were too large for her wallet. Since then, this accessory has become a must-have fashion item for both women and men, writes the Daily Mail.

The most expensive handbag in history is the diamond Mouawad 1001 Nights, which costs $3.8 million.< /p>

Göbekli Tepe was built in 9000 BC and featured large T-shaped stone columns arranged in a circle, which were probably used for public events and rituals. Some of its elements resemble clothing, belts, loincloths and bags.

Although experts don't know exactly what the motifs mean, they suggested that ancient people saw a connection to the cosmos in the design, Live Mint reports. The square «bag» perhaps symbolizes the Earth, and the circle connected to it was a symbol of spirituality.

An ancient text reveals that ancient civilizations believed that the Earth was flat, which may be why they depicted it as a square in their art. However, some researchers have argued that this design was a link between our planet and the sky.

Another early example of a clutch was found in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs made about 5,000 years ago, which depict gods carrying small square purses, symbolizing prosperity.

And while archaeologists have found evidence of baskets and tool pouches used by this civilization, they have yet to discover what was engraved on the walls.

Archaeologists have made similar finds in Iraq. Giant stone slabs found among the ruins of an Assyrian palace built between 883 and 859 BC depicted winged genies holding a handbag, writes the Daily Mail.

The design depicts a genie with large feathered wings holding what some believe is a handbag, while others believe it is a small bucket.

Many experts agree that he was made to hold the magical potions that the genie sprinkled throughout the halls, but other translations suggest that the painting depicts a bag filled with intoxicating substances.

Historian Dr. David Miano said in a recent YouTube video: «These figures in Assyrian palaces often have human bodies and animal heads, and are called Apkalu.»

He went on to explain that they are minor deities with powers protection that was defined in the ancient scriptures.

"They carry these things that people call handbags, but they are actually buckets for carrying water from the sacred date palms", – said Dr. Miano, noting that archaeologists have found ancient buckets similar to the engravings in Iraq.

He noted that archaeologists have discovered real buckets in the region.

The same motif was found in Mexico among ruins created by the Toltecs, which depict a humanoid figure holding a bag and surrounded by a snake. The giant stone statues also depict figures clutching bags to their sides, – the structures were created in 750 AD.

"Handbag – This is a very simple device, anyone can come up with this – says Dr. Miano. – You don't have to learn it from another culture, you can invent it yourself.»
