MOSCOW, July 9 Cultural cooperation between Russia and India is an important component of relations between the two countries, the parties intend to expand the geography of cultural exchanges and continue practice of festivals and cross years of exchange.
The joint statement on the results of the XXII Russian-Indian annual summit “Russia-India: a strong and expanding partnership” was published on the Kremlin website.
«The parties noted that cultural interaction is an important component of the Russian-Indian special privileged strategic partnership. The parties facilitate the establishment of direct contacts and further cooperation between ensembles, theaters, libraries, museums, creative universities and other cultural institutions of the two countries,» the document says.
In addition, the parties highly appreciated the successful implementation of the cultural exchange program between the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of India for 2021-2024.
“An agreement was reached to continue the mutually beneficial practice of alternately holding cultural and film festivals. The need to expand the geography of cultural exchanges and wider involvement of youth and folk art groups was also emphasized,” the statement noted.
In addition, there is a need to promote a more modern understanding of both countries in addition to cultural exchanges, which may include large-scale exhibitions and exchanges in areas such as science and technology, green energy, space. An agreement was reached to hold “cross-departmental exchange years” in both countries to expand ties between people and unite the economic, educational, scientific and civil communities.
