VLADIVOSTOK, July 13 Investigators have opened a criminal case after a child was injured while climbing an escalator in the Smile Mart shopping center «in Khabarovsk, reports the RF SUSK for the Khabarovsk Territory and the Jewish Autonomous Region.
On Friday, the regional prosecutor's office reported that a ten-year-old child was injured while climbing an escalator in the Smile Mart shopping center in Khabarovsk and was taken to the hospital. The incident occurred around 19.00 (12.00 Moscow time), preliminary, the boy was in the shopping center unaccompanied by adults. The prosecutor's office will evaluate compliance with legal requirements to ensure the safety of citizens in the shopping center, including during the operation of the escalator, as well as the activities of officials of the system for the prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency.

It is noted that the child was provided with the necessary medical care. The department specified that the boy is 11 years old.
A source familiar with the situation explained that the boy injured his leg. «The child received a laceration to his leg and soft tissue damage. He received qualified assistance at the hospital and the wound was stitched. He will continue treatment as an outpatient and will be monitored by a surgeon,» the agency's source said.
