TEL AVIV, July 12 The Israeli anti-fascist movement appealed to the Minister of Culture Miki Zohar with a request to prevent the disruption of the tour of the Russian Ballet Theater «against the backdrop of active efforts by local pro-Ukrainian activists to cancel performances by Russian artists, said the chairman of the movement, Dmitry Trapirov.
Earlier on social networks, aggressive pro-Ukrainian activists made calls to achieve the cancellation of the tour of the Moscow Regional State Academic Theater «Russian Ballet».
“The Israeli anti-fascist movement sent an official letter to the Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar with a request not to allow aggressive organizations to spoil the Israelis’ cultural holiday. The majority of Russian-speaking Israelis want to develop culturally and do not consider the Russian Ballet dancers to be murderers and criminals, as the pro-Ukrainian ones are trying to make them out to be.” «patriots» who are in Israel, as well as their paid media. The word «culture» is alien to them, and in general they are of little interest in the state of Israel itself. As the chronology of events shows, they are busy only with what is connected with Ukraine,» he said Trapirov.
Trapirov added that the movement sent a letter to the Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov (available), which states that the residents of Israel sincerely want to enjoy the best examples of Russian culture and are categorically against any restrictions on the performances of Russian artists in Israel.
The Russian Ballet Theater will perform in Israel on tour from July 26 to August 5. The last time theater artists came to Israel was in May 2022.
Previously, pro-Ukrainian activists repeatedly tried to disrupt the tours of Russian artists in Israel, and in a number of cases they succeeded, since local organizers of the performances prefer not to let the situation lead to provocations.
