BAYANKHONGOR (Mongolia), July 13 The crew of Sergei Karyakin and Anton Vlasyuk won the ninth stage of the Silk Way rally marathon in the all-terrain vehicle category on a Can-Am.
The crew covered a 422 km special section along the route Altai — Bayankhongor (Mongolia) in 4 hours 7 minutes 31 seconds. Second place went to Dmitry Cherkesov (Can-Am; backlog — 24.46), third – Roman Rusinov (Can-Am; +37.24). Russian racer Anastasia Nifontova failed to finish. Her car fell into a ravine, overturned and was seriously damaged.
In the off-road competition in the T1 class, the crew of Andrey Rudsky (G-Force, 4:23.35) took first place. In the T2 class, the stage victory was won by Mikhail Mityaev in a Lada (5:18.05). Mongolian rider Murun Purevdorzh on a KTM won the stage in the motorcycle category (4:30.54), and Danil Loginov on a Can-Am won the stage in the ATV category (5:55.23).
The tenth stage, the special stage of which will be 307 km, will take place on Sunday along the route Bayankhongor — Mandalgobi.
The Silk Road Rally takes place from July 5 to July 15 across Russia and Mongolia. The race route will connect the Russian cities of Tomsk, Barnaul, Gorno-Altaisk and Kosh-Agach, and then pass through the Mongolian cities of Khovd, Altai, Bayankhongor, Mandalgobi and Ulaanbaatar.
