MOSCOW, July 12 Former Dynamo Moscow goalkeeper Anton Shunin said that the management of the football club repeatedly promised to sign a new contract with him during the season, but did not do so, his words are quoted by the portal championat.com.
In early July, Dynamo announced the departure of Shunin, who had played for the main team since 2007.
According to Shunin, in December, Dynamo head coach Marcel Licka and goalkeeper coach Dmitry Izotov promised to talk with the management about extending his contract; general director Pavel Pivovarov also adhered to the position with an extension.
«I remember our conversation that I could break Novikov's record for the number of matches for Dynamo. I then said that my contract was ending, I no longer had time. To which Pavel Konstantinovich replied: » Well, let's re-sign.» But there were no specific proposals, as some media reported. After the winter holidays, the situation changed. There was less talk about an extension, but in the media the management continued to voice that everything would be fine. I had no reason don’t trust them,” the portal quotes Shunin.
The goalkeeper noted that he again raised the topic of the contract towards the end of the season, but then he was asked to wait until the end of the fight for the championship.
«As a result, we met with Pivovarov and Gafin to discuss the contract only on the first day of the training camp. I was told that the contract would not be renewed, but they offered to remain in the club structure if I wanted. And they said that I could voice my wishes, that “I did,” Shunin said.
Shunin is 37 years old. He is a graduate of Dynamo and has been in the system of the capital club since 1994. His contract was valid until the end of the 2023/24 season.
