VIENNA, July 14 Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer bet on boxing gloves received as a gift from the mayor of Kyiv, former professional boxer Vitali Klitschko, that the Austrian People's Party (ANP, German ÖVP) will win the elections to be held this fall.

According to him, if his party does not win, then he will display the boxing gloves received as a gift from Vitali Klitschko. “As a bet in the dispute, I will put up boxing gloves autographed by Vitali Klitschko for a charity auction,” the chancellor said, accompanying the post with a photo of gloves in turquoise, silver and black, one of which has an autograph.
During the radio program, Nehammer said that he received boxing gloves as a gift from his “idol.” “I have met many top athletes and I am like them: no one thinks about second, third or fourth place before the competition,” the chancellor said on a radio program on Sunday.
Elections to the National Council (the lower house of the republic's parliament) will take place on September 29 of this year, they will show how seats in the national council will be distributed in the future, what coalition options will become possible, whether Nehammer will remain as chancellor or will be replaced by new candidate. Currently, according to polls, the right-wing Freedom Party of Austria is the leader of public opinion. It is followed closely by ANP.
