The statement by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, that Donald Trump has “already won” the election race after the assassination attempt aroused interest both in Russia and and abroad, writes RIA Novosti.

Medvedev posted a photo of Trump on the social network X and wrote: “Now he has already won. If they don’t kill him.”

The attempt on Trump’s life took place on Saturday , August 12, at his campaign rally in New Hampshire. 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Pennsylvania opened fire on the Republican candidate, managing to fire several shots towards the stage. Trump was wounded in the ear, lost a lot of blood, but, fortunately, survived. Security quickly escorted him out of the event, and after a medical examination, the ex-president was discharged from the hospital.

The attacker, who was on the roof of an industrial building about a hundred meters from the stage, was eliminated. During the incident, one of the spectators of the rally was killed, two more were seriously injured.
