KRASNODAR, July 14. The area of the forest fire in the area of the Durso farm near Novorossiysk has increased to 42 hectares, the Kuban Ministry of Natural Resources reported.
On Sunday in The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation informed about a fire in the forest and grass in the area of the Durso farm on an area of three hectares. The fire spread to the territory of the Blue Wave recreation center. Later it was completely extinguished. At the same time, the forest continued to burn on 10 hectares, and later the fire spread to an area of 28 hectares. Ka-32 and Mi-8 helicopters were sent to the site of the fire.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrei Kravchenko also added that the fire of grass and trees began in the area of the Romantic recreation center and spread towards the Fregat recreation center. A state of emergency has been introduced in Novorossiysk.
“The area of the forest fire near Novorossiysk has increased to 42 hectares,” the message says.
As the regional State Emergency Management Directorate clarified, a total of 500 people were evacuated. Kravchenko also noted that buses have been prepared to evacuate another 200 people from adjacent recreation centers. A representative of the Forestry Department of the Southern Federal District also reported that more than 220 people and almost 50 pieces of equipment are already involved in extinguishing the forest fire.
