KALININGRAD, July 15 The decision to arrest the rector of the Baltic Federal University (BFU) Alexander Fedorov has been appealed, said Fedorov’s lawyer Anastasia Reznikova.
““Today we filed an appeal against the court’s decision to arrest Fedorov,” Reznikova said.
On July 10, the Leningradsky District Court of Kaliningrad arrested the rector of the IKBFU, Alexander Fedorov, and his deputy Myalkina, suspected of embezzling over 18 million rubles.
Earlier, the regional court reported that Elena Myalkina’s defender filed an appeal against the court’s decision in the form of arrest. A review date has not yet been set. The appeal period ends on the night of July 15-16.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that Fedorov and Myalkina are suspected of embezzling over 18 million rubles from February 2022 to June 2024. According to investigators, Fedorov issued orders to pay additional payments to employees for the intensity of work, the vice-rector collected this money and transferred it to the manager, the prosecutor’s office said.
As the investigation believes, several employees were given bonuses ranging from 200 thousand to 400 thousand rubles every month, the money was then transferred to Fedorov through Myalkina, the regional department of the Investigative Committee specified.
