It looks like an ordinary box
A patent for a cardboard coffin intended for cremation was recently received by an inventor from Sevastopol. In its design, it resembles an ordinary cardboard box, but, unlike it, the coffin is very durable.
The cardboard coffin consists of a lower part, that is, the box itself, and a removable lid. The sides and ends of the box are made of double-folded five-layer corrugated cardboard, the base is one layer of corrugated cardboard and one layer of honeycomb cardboard. The coffin is equipped with half-loop handles made of combustible rope, for example, jute. The lid has a similar design — two layers of corrugated cardboard on the sides, in the central part there are two layers of corrugated cardboard, rather than corrugated cardboard plus honeycomb cardboard as below: the lid will not have the same pressure as the bottom. There are three notches on the sides for attaching the lid to the box.
Both the coffin and the lid are made from solid sheets of cardboard. A shape is cut out of them, then the sides and ends are folded in half and connected to each other using a locking method, without using glue, tape, etc. After this, a jute rope is threaded through special holes in the sides of the cardboard coffin and loops are formed. The assembly is completed by placing a panel of honeycomb cardboard on the bottom of the coffin.
The lid is mounted in the same way, only instead of a panel of honeycomb cardboard, a decorative panel of corrugated cardboard is placed in it. It performs a decorative function. The fact is that the author of the development provided for applying an image, for example, imitation wood, onto the cardboard.
When closing the coffin, the lid is put on the box and, passing fasteners through the notches, fixes it. After this, the coffin can be sent to the crematorium oven.
