MOSCOW, July 18 A New Mexico court banned the Absolute Champion Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight American Jon Jones, who was previously charged with assaulting a doping officer, drinking alcohol, drugs, and possessing a weapon during the hearing, reports MMA Fighting.
It was previously reported that Jones was charged with assaulting a doping officer. If the fighter is found guilty, he will face up to a year in prison. He will also have to pay a fine of between $500 and $1,000.
According to the publication, Jones must also avoid contact with the alleged victims of this case. The athlete himself pleaded not guilty to two offences. The next court hearing is scheduled for August 22.
In April, the media reported that Jones, while drunk, threatened doping officer Christina Martinez with violence. Police began investigating the incident after Martinez, of the anti-doping agency Drug Free Sport, filed a report alleging that the athlete assaulted and threatened to kill her during a testing visit to his home.
Jones is 36 years old, he is a UFC heavyweight champion and a former UFC light heavyweight champion, he has 27 wins, one defeat, and one more fight declared invalid in MMA.
