MOSCOW, July 17 Former editor-in-chief of the Vedomosti newspaper Andrei Shmarov died at the age of 69, according to the publication’s Telegram channel.
“»The former editor has died editor-in-chief of Vedomosti Andrey Shmarov,” the report says.
As noted, a friend of the Shmarov family reported his death to the newspaper.
It is added that Shmarov began as a scientist-economist at the State Planning Research Institute USSR, then became a scientific editor at the Kommersant Publishing House. He was one of the founders of Expert magazine, an analytical center of the same name, and one of the initiators of the launch of the rating agency of the same name. In 2007, Shmarov became the general director of Snob, then was the editor-in-chief of the educational Internet channel Project 42. Shmarov was appointed acting. editor-in-chief of Vedomosti in March 2020, soon became editor-in-chief of the publication. He worked in this position until May 2021.
