Butman and Bashmet will open the international jazz festival in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, July 18 The Moscow Jazz Orchestra of Igor Butman and Chamber ensemble «Moscow Soloists» by Yuri Bashmet.
«The opening of the festival will be at the St. Petersburg Shostakovich Philharmonic. We will open it with Yuri Bashmet. There will be an excellent program where we play together and separately, we play both classics and jazz… With this program we will begin our festival,” festival president, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Butman told reporters.

He noted that the city governor, Alexander Beglov, supported the idea of ​​holding the First International St. Petersburg Jazz Festival.

In general, he supports everything that is good, everything kind, everything that is correct, everything that is responsible and, most importantly, what benefits the city and the people. Therefore, everything worked out. We supported the enthusiasm of David Goloshchekin and the enthusiasm of all the jazz musicians who are here live, lived and created. That’s why they made such a powerful festival,” Butman said.

He noted that young musicians from Russia and other countries were also invited to the festival.
From July 23 to 27, the festival concerts will be held in the Yusupov Garden with the participation of Russian and foreign jazzmen and popular artists of other musical genres, who will present jazz programs. Performers here will be: Larisa Dolina and the Oleg Akkuratov Trio, L'One (Jazz Set), Igor Sklyar and the Jazz Classic Community, Alexey Arkhipovsky, Billy's Band, Anya Chipovskaya and the Oleg Lundstrem Jazz Orchestra, Cenk Erdogan & Akra Jazz Band (Türkiye), Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Ildar Abdrazakov, Varvara Ubel and others.

A large number of educational events and lectures are planned within the framework of the festival. The venues for a large-scale club program will be the Philharmonic of Jazz Music, the Igor Butman Jazz Club, the JFC clubs, 48 ​​Chairs and The Hat. A number of concerts will also be held in public venues.

As Butman reported, the festival will close on July 28 at the St. Petersburg Shostakovich Philharmonic. “Two groups will close — David Goloshchekin and my orchestra, and the soloist will be one of the most famous divas, Khibla Gerzmava. But she has been singing jazz for many years,” he said.
The First International St. Petersburg Jazz Festival will bring together more than 600 Russian and foreign musicians.
