National Court of Justice of Spain sentenced 76-year-old pensioner Pompeyo Gonzalez from Burgos to 18 years in prison for sending letters containing homemade explosives. This was reported by the Europa Press news agency, citing a court decision.
Gonzalez was sentenced to ten years for terrorism and eight years for the manufacture, possession and use of explosive, flammable or incendiary devices for terrorist purposes. He sent explosives, including to the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid.
The judge noted that the defendant sought to “cause significant disruption in Spanish society in order to put pressure on the governments of Spain and the United States, as well as other organizations in Spain in order to stop supporting Ukraine.»
It was previously reported that Spain plans to transfer to Ukraine a new batch of Leopard 2 tanks, as well as tank tow trucks and anti-tank missiles, the exact number of which has not been specified.
