MOSCOW, July 26A new digital service that allows access to airport business lounges using biometrics was developed by the Biometric Technologies Center, VTB Bank and the National Payment Card System together with VisionLabs, the international IT platform Mile On Air and the processing company Multikarta, VTB reported.
As previously reported to journalists by the office of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Grigorenko, the service currently operates at the airports of Moscow (Vnukovo and Domodedovo), St. Petersburg and Kazan, and next week this option will appear in Vladivostok. Plans call for launching the service at several dozen more Russian airports in 2025.
The new service is available to citizens who use the state Unified Biometric System (UBS) and the OnPass program. To access the service, you do not need to register your biometrics in person. You can simply register your data remotely in the State Services Biometrics mobile application.
To access the lounge, passengers no longer need to open the mobile application and show the QR code to the employee. Instead, they only need to look at the biometric terminal at the entrance to the business lounge, the Deputy Prime Minister's office explained.
As noted by VTB, the service is implemented on the basis of the bank's accredited biometric system.
«The use of biometric technologies implies a seamless experience of using services. This means that a client will be able to enter an airport business lounge without stopping for any document checks or presenting a QR code,» VTB's statement quotes Deputy President and Chairman of the Management Board Vadim Kulik as saying.
