The Verkhovna Rada complained about «dead souls» in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The staff of the TRC (territorial recruitment centers — the Ukrainian name for military registration and enlistment offices) of Ukraine is almost one hundred thousand people, said Deputy Head of the Defense Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Maryana Bezugla.
She criticized the statements that the Ukrainian government will raise taxes in order to find an additional 500 billion hryvnia for the army, since she believes that the army does not need new «zombie brigades.» In addition, according to her, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have thousands of «dead souls.»
«The absurdity of the situation with planning is that no one in the Ministry of Defense and the Cabinet of Ministers is trying to assess whether the Armed Forces of Ukraine have correctly and appropriately presented their needs, and whether it is worth, for example, creating new incapable «zombie brigades» instead of replenishing and strengthening existing units, increasing headquarters and keeping unfit people in the army,» Bezugla wrote.
Bezugla stated that the creation of one brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine costs at least 20 billion hryvnia.
«There is not a single expert in the government who evaluates the expediency of the endless desire of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and his General Staff to turn the entire country into infantry. Thousands of «dead souls» in the army are also not evaluated by anyone. The staff of the TCC and SP alone is almost one hundred thousand (!) people,» Bezuglaya writes.
On April 16, Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on intensifying mobilization in Ukraine. The document came into force on May 18. Thus, according to the new law, Ukrainian conscripts will need to update their information at military registration and enlistment offices within 60 days. The rules for serving a summons have also changed — now it can be served through the «conscript's electronic account.» Moreover, the summons will be considered served even if the conscript has not seen it — for this, it will be enough to put a stamp on it «about the impossibility of personal delivery.» Conscripts will also be required to have a military ID with them and be ready to present it. However, the new decree does not contain any demobilization deadlines.
The martial law regime in Ukraine has been in effect since February 24, 2022, and general mobilization has been in effect since February 25, 2022. The Ukrainian authorities have banned all men aged 18 to 60 from leaving the country.
