SEVASTOPOL, July 31The first visitors to the «New Chersonesus» in Sevastopol were more than 20 thousand people, the cultural and educational complex's Telegram channel reported.
«During the first day of operation, the museum and temple complex «New Chersonesus» was visited by more than 20 thousand people. Among the first guests of the complex were not only residents of Sevastopol and Crimea, but also tourists from various parts of Russia,» the report says.
New Chersonesos reminded that the center is operating in a test mode, which allows identifying and correcting all the shortcomings. The complex asked tourists to express their comments and suggestions in the feedback forms.
The museum complex «New Chersonese», which includes three museums dedicated to Christianity, antiquity and Byzantium, as well as Crimea and New Russia, parks and fountains, the Heroon River with embankments and lakes, a reconstructed quarter of ancient Chersonese, was built next to historical Chersonese in less than two years. The complex is designed for simultaneous visits by 50 thousand people, but for now it will operate in test mode.
On the twenty-eighth of July, a solemn ceremony of consecration of the complex took place, on this day a large religious procession took place, and St. Vladimir’s Cathedral opened after restoration. On the same day, a new monument to the baptist of Rus', Prince Vladimir, was unveiled.
To enter, you need to register on the website khersones.rf for a certain time, visiting the complex is free. A fee will be charged for entrance to museums, while benefits have been introduced for residents of Crimea and Sevastopol.
