MOSCOW, August 1 The Olympic Games in Paris may go down in history as the most shameful, the spirit of Olympism has disappeared from them, they have become politicized, said the Chairperson of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, adding that she herself does not watch the competitions on principle.
«I do not watch the Olympic Games in Paris on principle, because there is no Russian sport in them. I believe that the Olympic Games in France are games where the spirit of Olympism has disappeared, these are politicized games, these are games where the rights of transgender people come first, and so on, where there is no real spirit of competition. That is, it is difficult to call them Olympic Games anymore. I think that they will go down in history as the most shameful Olympic Games in all the years of the Olympic movement,» she said at a press conference.
Matviyenko noted that it was no coincidence that even the Olympic flag was raised upside down this year.
The Olympic Games are being held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
