MOSCOW, August 2 The Basmanny Court of Moscow extended the arrest of Deputy Governor of the Tyumen Region Vyacheslav Vakhrin, accused of receiving a large bribe, a correspondent reports from the courtroom.
“Extend Vakhrin’s period of detention for three months, that is, until November 6, 2024,” the judge announced the decision.
The defense asked the court to transfer Vakhrin to house arrest.
The second defendant in the case is the alleged bribe giver, director of Specialized Developer Vostok Development LLC Alexey Gotsyk.
The investigator told the court that in December 2022, Vakhrin, while holding the position of deputy governor, received a bribe from Gotsyk in the form of a property benefit in the amount of 18 million 760 thousand rubles when purchasing two apartments in Tyumen. The investigator explained that Vakhrin, in exchange for the bribe he received, «carried out certain actions and assistance in favor of Gotsyk using his official position.»
Earlier, law enforcement agencies reported that Vakhrin attempted to hide from the investigative authorities the day after a criminal case was initiated against him.
According to the case materials available to , Vakhrin denies that he intended to hide from the investigation in his criminal case and was going to go to the SVO.
On June 8, the Basmanny Court of Moscow sent Vakhrin and Gotsyk to pretrial detention.
Vakhrin was appointed deputy governor of the Tyumen region for housing and communal services in 2012.
On Friday, August 2, Vakhrin reported in court that he had not been dismissed from his position.
