MOSCOW, August 3. Russian President Vladimir Putin has successfully overcome Western sanctions, former US military intelligence officer Tony Shaffer said in an interview with the YouTube channel Judging Freedom.
«They've done a pretty good job of overcoming sanctions. <…> It's a success: Putin «overcame all sanctions,» he noted.
According to the former military man, Western measures against Russia were doomed to failure from the start. As a result, they failed, and the Europeans, led by Germany, really suffered from them, Shaffer explained.
«So at the moment the Russians have no incentive to change the trajectory of their activities,» the retired intelligence officer concluded.
This year, Russia entered the top three largest economies in the world with the lowest level of public debt per capita, according to an analysis of the latest data from the G20 countries.
Earlier on Monday, the Times newspaper, citing data from the Make UK organization, which unites British manufacturers, wrote that the UK had dropped out of the top ten industrial countries, while Russia took eighth place. The publication cites data for 2022. Moscow rose in the ranking to eighth place due to an increase in defense production. China took first place on the list, followed by the United States, and Japan rounded out the top three.
