MOSCOW, August 5 The RT television channel together with the government of the Republic of Dagestan will hold from September 4 to 6 at the Kumyk Theater named after. Salavatova in Makhachkala II International Documentary Film Festival «RT.Doc: The Time of Our Heroes».
The program includes films about the heroes of the special military operation: military personnel, doctors, volunteers, war correspondents, and cultural figures. These are films not only from the RT channel, but also from independent documentary filmmakers and war correspondents of Russian federal channels. There will also be meetings with the authors and heroes of the films. Discussions and round tables with experts and opinion leaders are planned.
«The festival is not just a film screening. People, having watched these films, understand that they are about the truth. They show what is really happening. You can't fool the viewer, that is why there is such a demand and interest in our films,» said Ekaterina Yakovleva, head of RT documentary broadcasting and general producer of the RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes festival.
The festival program will also include films about the events of 1999 that led to the beginning of the second Chechen war, when on August 7, militants led by Shamil Basayev and Khattab attacked Dagestan. The screenings of films about the feat of the people of the republic are timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the defeat of international gangs.
