«It was very loud last night: I thought the windows would fly out»
Today, Ukrainian Armed Forces militants attacked Kursk Oblast. In addition to the alarming events on the border, there was unrest in Kursk itself. The city mayor reported that several drones were shot down, the wreckage of which was found on the territory of the regional center. Local residents told MK about the current situation in Kursk.
— It was loud all night in Kursk, — says local resident Lyudmila Aleksandrovna. — I woke up at about five in the morning from a loud roar. I live in the North-West, so our windows were shaking. I thought the glass on my balcony would fly out. And then we learned from the city news that drones had been shot down.
City officials have already reported that there is no serious damage in the city. The drone debris damaged only the car on Pavlunovsky. This street is located near the center, the local Red Square is just a stone's throw away, 5 minutes by car.
— There is no panic among the locals: everyone understands that our military is fighting against all the evil in the world, — the woman continues. — Gradually, people are getting used to the sirens. They sounded twice this morning. At first, it was scary. But now, when the siren starts sounding, everyone knows that it is better to take shelter. There are almost no people on the streets during the sirens. And in the houses, the television is turned off: a warning is on the screen that a danger has been declared… The Ukrainian junta wants to intimidate us. But they do not understand who they are dealing with. Our ancestors went through the Battle of Kursk: there are still people alive who personally witnessed all these terrible events. Whom did these Banderites decide to intimidate?
According to our interlocutor, the border areas are suffering more now. Until the Maidans began to be organized in Ukraine, a special atmosphere always reigned there.
— We have villages where part is Russia and the other part is Ukraine, — our interlocutor explains. — It is clear that there has never been any border there: people freely visited each other. True, Ukrainians always wanted to sell their houses and move to the neighboring side of the village, because pensions were paid higher in Russia. And the local dialect is different there: a mixture of Ukrainian and Russian.
— And now Western enemies have set us against each other, — sighs Lyudmila Aleksandrovna. — Although many people already understand everything even in Ukraine. One of my friends has a sister who lives in Ukraine. When the SVO began, she stopped communicating with her, cursing her like crazy. And then she was the first to call and ask for forgiveness. In Ukraine, they already quietly hate Zelensky. In Kursk, the attitude towards him is different: they hate him loudly. Zelensky's fate is predetermined: we, the people of Kursk, have no doubt about it. He will face a bitter retribution for the bloody massacre he caused on the holy land. In our city, everyone is saying that a radical change in the SVO will soon occur and the enemy will be finally routed.
