MOSCOW, August 9. The automotive industry is constantly evolving and keeping pace with growing consumer demands, as well as increasingly stringent global safety standards. About cars of the future, the use of innovative technologies and quality control with the help of AI – in the material.
Strict control
Along with the development of technology, car manufacturers are also focusing on improving the quality of their products. Quality control begins at the design stage and continues throughout all stages of production — from assembly and testing. Companies are integrating new diagnostic and analysis methods, including the use of robots and automated systems for more accurate and reliable assembly, as well as the implementation of strict standards for functions, materials and components.
For example, the Chinese company GAC MOTOR uses a regulated quality control system, which includes six stages, 42 verification procedures and more than 3 thousand testing points, the company’s press service reported. Cars are subjected to all sorts of tests — crash tests, corrosion resistance tests, fuel efficiency tests and carbon dioxide emissions tests. Each car undergoes instrumental control, testing on a special line and on a complex track. In addition, vehicles are tested for leaks in a rain chamber.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is used to optimize production processes. The neural network helps in automation and quality control. For example, BMW uses AI to detect and correct errors during the assembly process. Cameras and machine learning algorithms analyze every part of the car on the assembly line, detect any deviations from standards and instantly notify the staff about it. In the future, the company would like to introduce androids (humanoid robots) in its production.
Into the future with AI
And Ford uses artificial intelligence to detect and fix paint defects. The AI system analyzes images of cars and determines whether there are micro-scratches or other defects on the body surface. In addition, inside the car, the AI can track the installation of parts. Photos are compared with 30 images that show correct and incorrect installation. It takes two seconds for the AI to identify the inaccuracy and stop the assembly line to fix the problem.
In addition, artificial intelligence technologies are now coming to the aid of modern car drivers. Thus, the German automobile concern Volkswagen has added ChatGPT artificial intelligence technologies to the voice assistant in its new car models. The company assured that AI technologies will allow electric vehicle drivers to get information about tourist attractions, past football matches or solutions to mathematical problems.
Cars of the future are a combination of innovative technologies and strict quality control. Artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in the automotive industry and helps not only to control the production process, but also to improve the safety of vehicles. After all, it is the quality and reliability of cars that determine the future of the auto industry.
