MOSCOW, August 14 A US citizen has been detained in Moscow on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, the press service of the capital's main office of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported.
«A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code («Use of violence against a government official») <…> Investigative actions are being carried out with the defendant, and charges will be brought against him in the near future,» the statement said.
According to the information received, on the night of August 12, the US citizen was taken to the police station for hooliganism. The man refused to provide identification documents and then attacked a law enforcement officer.
The investigation intends to petition for his arrest.
In turn, the agency's source in the security forces said that we are talking about an American, Joseph Tager, who caused a conflict at the Radisson Hotel, refusing to provide documents about his previous place of residence. After this, the offender was taken to the police station, where he hit one of the officers.
