On August 11, the charity run «Without Borders» was held in Izmailovsky Park. Football player Alexey Smertin and other famous athletes took part in the run.
In total, the run brought together more than 700 people, including 120 children and 70 people with disabilities. As a result of the event, more than 320 thousand rubles will be donated to charity: 280 thousand were donated to the organizers of the sports festival — the charity foundation «Sport for Life» — by the charity program «DobroFON», and another 40 thousand were donated by the participants themselves. All proceeds will go to the flagship project of the foundation «Marathon in the Dark», within the framework of which people with visual impairments play sports.
During the event, races were organized for both children and adults. An important part of the sporting event was the 2 km «blind» distance. They started in pairs: one of the participants ran blindfolded as a blind runner, and the other accompanied him along the distance.
After the sports part, singer Marina Mikheeva, the group «Orizont» and participant of the show «The Voice» — Arseniy Kurchanin performed for the guests and runners, and People's Artist of Russia Nikolay Baskov, singers Mitya Fomin, Karina Koks and other stars recorded video messages for the participants.
«It is important that our race is inclusive: children and adults with disabilities could participate in the distances. We thank all our partners for their help and support. I would like to separately highlight the general partner of our sporting event — the charity program «DobroFON», for which the social agenda and solving the needs of our target audience are just as important as for us,» — notes the director of the charity foundation «Sport for Life» Anastasia Pletmintseva.
«We pay great attention to initiatives that not only promote sports to the masses, but also help those who really need it. Absolutely every person should have the opportunity to play sports, regardless of their disabilities. We are glad that the experience we have accumulated in working with professional clubs, sports federations and the Paralympic Committee helps make sports accessible to everyone,» — said Valeria Kupina, Deputy Director for Marketing, PR and Social Projects at Fonbet.
