The Russian Defense Ministry reported on the evening of August 15 that a Tu-22M3 bomber crashed near Irkutsk. It was on a scheduled flight and fell in an uninhabited area.
A technical malfunction is said to be the preliminary cause. The crew managed to eject.
It was also reported that local residents were the first to rush to search for the ejected pilots of the crashed Tu-22M3.
The pilot who was the last to eject was steering the aircraft away from populated areas until the end. Footage of the search and assistance was published by Readovka.
