Buick Envision facelift amid mixed sales dynamics in US and China

General Motors Corporation has published the first official photos of the updated Buick Envision crossover — this model is made in China, but is also sold in North America

The current second-generation Buick Envision debuted in China in 2020, sales in the historical homeland of the Buick brand — in the USA — began in 2021. In China, the “second” Envision is known as the Envision S, because at the time of its debut, the first generation crossover remained in service and the two models of the same name had to be somehow distinguished. And back in 2021, an elongated version of the new Envision with the Plus prefix appeared in China, which has not yet reached America. Envision and Envision S belong to the compact class (wheelbase — 2779 mm, length — 4636 mm), Envision Plus — to the medium size (wheelbase — 2833 mm, length — 4845 mm).

Nevertheless, Envision is now gaining popularity in the United States, and not in China. In the US, for the first quarter of this year, Envision, according to GM, sold 14,077 units, which is 241.8% more than in January-March 2022, while in China, sales of Envision in all its varieties for the same period, according to CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), decreased by 36.3% to 20,236 units. />Updated Buick Envision Plus for the Chinese market

The updated Envision received double-deck headlights in the style of other recent Buick models and an enlarged grille. The stern, not yet shown in official photos, retained the shape of the lights, but the design of the bumper has changed slightly.

In the cabin, judging by the teaser, there will be a fashionable two-screen scoreboard instead of the old dashboard with arrow dials and a completely new front panel. The second-level Super Cruise autopilot, which was not previously offered on Envision, is announced in the equipment.

Whether there will be new things in terms of technology is still unknown. At the moment, Buick Envision is offered in the US with a non-alternative 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine (231 hp, 350 Nm) paired with a 9-speed «automatic». The drive is front or all-wheel drive, and for some reason, four-wheel drive is not available for the Envision 2023 model year, but the Envision 2022 model year has it, which is also still available.
