The most popular Chevrolet crossover has changed its image: photo of the new Equinox

The SUV got a more brutal look. The interior has not yet been exposed, but it has most likely been redrawn. There is only one engine so far.

The Chevrolet Equinox crossover of the current generation debuted in 2016, it survived restyling in 2020. In its native States, the model remains the brand's most popular SUV, although it has gone into the red: from January to March 2023, 52,902 units were sold there (-5.6%; GM publishes sales results quarterly). Last year, the name Equinox was assigned to a completely new electric SUV (with the prefix EV), but the manufacturer does not refuse a gasoline car: not so long ago, a transformed cross in camouflage was caught in the USA, and now there are photos of the car without a patch of disguise — they were merged by the Chinese Ministry of Industry. Apparently, the SUV with a new design will be positioned as a model of the next generation. By the way, in the Celestial Empire, the crossover has ceased to be in demand: in January-May, it sold only 5,708 copies, and once upon a time so many cars were sold in a month.

So, in the new generation of the Chevrolet Equinox, it turned into a brutal one: the SUV has a more embossed body, “squared” wheel arches and a massive unpainted plastic body kit. The bifurcated optics were abandoned — the strips of navigation lights are now installed separately, under them there are blocks of the main headlights.

The length of the new SUV destined for China is 4653 mm, which is 7 mm more than that of the local predecessor (an indicator of the current crossover for America — 4652 mm). The width of the model added 59 mm (now 1902 mm), the height increased by 22 mm to 1710 mm. Wheelbase — 2730 mm (+5 mm compared to the previous crossover). In China, the novelty has 17- or 19-inch wheels.

There is no photo of the interior. Most likely, a full-fledged virtual tidy and a multimedia system with a large touchscreen appeared inside, the only question is how they were designed — they were installed separately or as a single display.

The engine in the documents of the certification body only one is indicated so far: the Chinese will be offered a new Chevrolet Equinox with a 1.5 petrol turbo engine with a capacity of 173 hp. The former crossover in the Celestial Empire is presented with a turbo four of the same volume, but with a return of 169 hp, in addition, you can buy an SUV with a 2.0 turbo engine (237 hp) and a 48-volt starter-generator. The base engine is combined with a six-speed automatic, the «mild» hybrid is supposed to be 9AKP. In the States, the Equinox is now only equipped with 1.5T (177 hp) and 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is provided for the model.
