According to the plan of the Russian manufacturer, mass production of new cars will start at the end of next year, and sales will begin in 2025.
Information about plans to develop a separate family of Lada segment B “on a global platform” appeared last year. Recall that in September 2022, the board of directors of AVTOVAZ approved the implementation of two new projects of the Russian brand. One of them will be the already mentioned “budget” family, the second will be a crossover on the Vesta platform. Then it was reported that the new items would be on the conveyor in 2024-2025, but the launch order was not reported.

Probably, the Lada family of the B segment will be the first to be put on the conveyor, which, as previously reported, will replace the current Granta family. Recall that now it includes sedans, liftbacks and station wagons, as well as cross-versions of the latter. According to Interfax, today the president of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, revealed the name of the future new family — Iskra (Iskra). />In the photo: the actual liftback Lada Granta
“This decision has already been approved by the board, and it is under this brand that a whole family of our new cars will be sold in three variations: a sedan, station wagon and, probably, a station wagon,” said the head of AVTOVAZ on the sidelines of SPIEF-2023. He also noted that the cost of this project is currently estimated at 37 billion rubles, while 17 billion rubles have “already been invested.”

Maxim Sokolov also confirmed that the Iskra family of cars will be based on the CMF-B global platform developed by Renault, the company that is the former owner of AVTOVAZ (the manufacturer left the Russian Federation last year, selling its part to NAMI on a buyback basis within six years) . It was previously reported that this “trolley” will be finalized for the release of the announced new family of the Lada brand. : current wagon Lada Granta Cross
According to the plan, the start of mass production of Lada Iskra should be given at the end of 2024, and sales of new items will begin in 2025. The company noted that they intend to achieve «the maximum possible degree of localization of the new model.» According to the head of AVTOVAZ, the new sedan and station wagon will be slightly larger than the current four- and five-door Grants. Their design will borrow some of the style decisions from the current Vesta. In addition, Maxim Sokolov noted that Iskra could be equipped with a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter engine. By the way, this engine has not yet returned to the Vesta range.

The President of the Russian concern said that AvtoVAZ was going to hold Lada Granta on the assembly line for some time, although, according to him, the family could be transferred “to another line”. He also added that in the future, Grant, «having outlived his life», will become a thing of the past. According to the plan, the production of the current family will be discontinued by 2027.
Recall that earlier the designer Kolesa.ru already imagined what the new four-door Grant might look like: as it turned out now, this is more likely first look at the potential appearance of the future Lada Iskra sedan.
