The German company has unveiled a concept sports car that is a «reimagined icon» of the C111.
Mercedes-Benz released several teasers of its new concept a couple of days ago, which is intended to pay tribute to the history of the brand. We are talking about the original C111 show car, which debuted back in 1969 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Over the next ten years, the German manufacturer introduced a number of versions of this show car with gradually evolving designs. The latest was the concept sports car Mercedes-Benz C111-IV, which was released in a single copy in 1979. These mid-engined sports cars were equipped with a rotary piston engine, turbodiesel and V8 petrol (depending on the year of manufacture).
Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven Concept
Now the company decided to continue this concept line and presented the Vision One-Eleven show car, and the developers chose the Mercedes-Benz C111-II as an «icon for rethinking»: six prototypes equipped with Wankel rotary engines were produced during 1970- 1971.
The new concept adopted a rich orange tint for the body color from the original, in addition, the concept received an unusual black body kit around the perimeter of the body and the air intake holes located in the hood highlighted in the same color. It also has a gull-wing design at its doors. The Vision One-Eleven is 4060 mm long and 1170 mm high. It features muscular wheel arches, large-diameter rims wrapped in low-profile rubber, a heavily sloped windshield, and a sloping roof that help create a streamlined silhouette.
On the front of the new Mercedes-Benz show car there is an ellipse-shaped digital panel with a luminous frame along the contour. On the sides are “pixelated” round headlights (the “original” had a similar design, however, with the usual air intake between the headlights).
The stern received a similar oval matrix panel with an image of round lights displayed on the display. If desired, the image on this external screen can be changed, for example, in the teaser on the stern, the name of the concept was written — One-Eleven.

The interior design has received a touch of «retro» due to the silver design of the seats and the interface of a large scoreboard, more suitable for the DeLorean from the Back to the Future movie franchise, it also includes a touchscreen multimedia system located in the center of the digital front panel. At the same time, the interior did not borrow anything from the Mercedes-Benz C111-II concept. On the steering wheel, which is located in the place of the traditional steering wheel, there are various buttons for controlling the functions of the sports car. p> According to Mercedes-Benz, the Vision One-Eleven concept received two new-generation electric motors (they have axial magnetic flux) developed by the British company Yasa, which has been owned by the German automaker since the summer of 2021. It also includes a traction battery with cylindrical cells and a different liquid cooling system. Information about the performance of the show car in Mercedes was not made public.
