The Chinese all-terrain vehicle will have a more solid appearance. The model will be offered with a two-liter turbo engine.
In Russia, the BAIC BJ40 frame SUV with Jeep Wrangler motifs is just starting its career: since this year, we have officially introduced a long-wheelbase four-door version with the Plus prefix (Kolesa.ru has already met it, more details in our article). But in China, the original model debuted back in 2013, where it is sold under the Beijing brand, a short version and a pickup truck are also available at home. And now the second generation all-terrain vehicle is approaching, its photo and main characteristics appeared in the database of the Ministry of Industry of the PRC.

In the new generation, the BJ40 will no longer look like a Wrangler: the “Chinese” has a more solid appearance and an all-metal five-door body (the predecessor had a removable plastic top, external hinges and massive arches). At the same time, it is expected to retain the frame structure and the continuous rear axle. In general, the exterior design is clearly made with an eye on the Beijing BJ60 model, although the junior SUV will have its own feature — frameless doors (they can be seen on one of the spy photos of the test prototype).
The length of the «second» Beijing BJ40 is 4790 mm, width — 1940 mm, height — 1895 mm, wheelbase — 2760 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the current BAIC BJ40 Plus all-terrain vehicle for Russia are: 4630/1925/1871 mm, the distance between the axles is 2745 mm. on the same level (in the current BJ40, the multimedia tablet rises above the front panel), but it is still unclear whether this is a single scoreboard or separate screens. The novelty also includes a panoramic sunroof and all-round cameras.

There is only one engine announced so far — it is a 2.0 petrol turbo engine with a capacity of 245 hp. In Russia, the BJ40 Plus is presented with a gasoline two-liter turbo engine with a return of 225 hp, which is combined with an eight-speed automatic. The SUV has all-wheel drive (part-time).
The official premiere of the new Beijing BJ40 should be held in China before the end of this year. It is possible that later such an all-terrain vehicle will reach the Russian market.
