Billionaires Elon Musk and Bernard Arnault met in Paris's Cheval Blanc, one of the most expensive hotels in Europe
The two richest people in the world met for a $470 billion lunch on Friday when Elon Musk and luxury goods magnate Bernard Arnault dined together in Paris.
Mr Musk, worth $237 billion, and Mr Arnault, 74- year-old owner of the LVMH luxury goods group. worth $233 billion, enjoyed a hearty meal at the five-star Cheval Blanc Maison with their families.
The couple was captured overlooking the Eiffel Tower in a photo shared by Bernard Arnault's son, Antoine, on his account. on Instagram. Musk's mother, May Musk, also attended the dinner.
Bernard Arnault turned LVMH into the world's largest luxury goods group, following brands from Moet champagne to Louis Vuitton luggage. Over the past year, he has repeatedly switched places with Mr. Musk for the title of the richest man in the world, and the head of Tesla is currently in the lead.

During his brief visit to Paris, Musk once again met with French President Emmanuel Macron. This is the couple's second meeting in less than a month as Macron seeks to raise investment from Tesla.
On the eve of the meeting, Macron told reporters that he would “sell France” in order to convince the billionaire to install a “gigafactory” of electric batteries in the country. Mr Macron tweeted a photo of the couple shaking hands, with the caption «Let's work together!»
An Elysée spokesman declined to comment on what was being discussed.

Tesla already has a gigafactory near Berlin, where the company hopes to produce 500,000 electric vehicles this year.
Officials in Spain are also reportedly trying to convince Tesla to build a factory near Valencia as European countries propose lots of subsidies for electric car makers to attract investment.
The billionaire who flew to Paris with his $70 million. A Gulfstream jet was not expected to visit officials in London, a government source said.
Mr Musk also spoke Friday at the Vivatech technology conference at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center in France, where he reiterated its concern about the dangers of artificial intelligence.
«There is a real danger of negative consequences for digital superintelligence,» he said, warning of a potentially «catastrophic outcome.»
He added that if «AI Armageddon, I think I would still like to be alive to see it…and hopefully not cause it.»
