Alex Chisholm is Knighted the Order of the Bath

The senior civil servant involved in Boris Johnson's transmission of the coronavirus police diaries was knighted in honor of King's birthday.

Alex Chisholm, Permanent Secretary to the Cabinet Office and Chief Operating Officer of the Civil Service, was awarded for his contribution to the Civil Service.

Cabinet sources said officials were required under the civil service code to hand over information to the authorities because they concerned records detailing possible violations of coronavirus rules. They were discovered by lawyers working on Johnson's formal submission to the Covid investigation.

Metropolitan Police and Thames Valley Police confirmed they were monitoring gatherings Mr Johnson attended, including receiving visitors, at Downing Street and to Checkers when he was in the top post.

A spokesman for Mr Johnson said the allegations were unfounded. «completely untrue» and suggested that the statements were made for «political purposes.»

Discrimination lawsuit

Mr Chisholm, who became a Companion of the Order of the Bath, also made headlines when he was named along with the Cabinet and other high-ranking officials in a discrimination lawsuit filed by a former government employee of the Ministry of Finance.

Labor tribunal documents released in April showed that he requested that his name be struck out of the case on the grounds that he had been «inappropriately included.»

But this was rejected by the tribunal judge, despite admitting that the role he allegedly played in the lawsuit was «relatively minor.»

A cabinet spokesman said: «We defend these claims and cannot comment further on the ongoing labor tribunal.»

Mr. Chisholm is one of the most senior officials in the civil service, having spent most of a decade in senior Whitehall positions in the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, which has since split into two new divisions, and in the Cabinet Office. Office.

He is responsible for civil service reform and also oversees his department's 8,000 employees.
